Frequenty Asked Questions
What is unified communications?
Unified communications (UC) enables communication across a variety of different communications modalities and different communication devices using different communication mediums. The two most common mediums are voice and text. Unified communication allows them to be used interchangeably and the bi-direction translation between these two mediums is made to appear seamless. For instance, you can access your voice mail as transcribed text in email. You can listen to your emails over phone. You can call your colleague on his office phone and he can talk to you using instant messaging - whatever you say appears as text to him and whatever he types is delivered to you as voice. You can send a fax to someone and it appear as email in their inbox or as text in their instant messaging window. The possibilities are endless.
Unified communications involves infrastructural support in the form of both hardware and software. There are a few big players in the UC market, including Cisco and Microsoft, who have competing products that enable unified communications of some sort
Will you have a competing unified communications product?
No. We do not intend to create yet another unified communications infrastructure. Rather, our products and services will eventually be complementary to existing unified communications products and, we believe, will add value to the offerings already out there.
What products and/or services will you be offering?
Our goal is to simplify unified communications, to make it easier and natural to use, and to make it more useful. We are currently working on products and services that will bring as closer to this goal and will announce them in due time.
What is JinglePal? How will it simplify unified communications?
JinglePal means phone buddy. It aims to simplify unified communications with a special focus on mobile devices. It is not one product or one service or one piece of software that sits on your cellphone. Rather, it is an all encompassing concept that uses a variety of means to help you get the most relevant information that you need, when you need it, and however you need it. Easily and naturally!
That is what we mean by simplifying unified communications.
The concept of Unified Communications (UC) and products to enable it have been in existence for several years. However, some of the great features of existing UC products seldom get used on account of usability and similar issues.
JinglePal was founded by people who have extensive experience with unified communications - both as end users as well as in creating products and intellectual property in the field of unified communications. JinglePal was started as a quest to simplify our own communications needs. We strive to make unified communications easier to use, natural to use, and above all useful to us both in our professional and personal lives.
